The founder's son and successor. He was educated in the mahadras and holds an MA in Islamic civilisation.
Religious and scholarly roles
Ibrahim Niasse's shaykhs and muqaddams in Mauritania elected him their spokesman, with the lawyer Mouloud Fall, a grandson of Ibrahim Niasse, as his deputy. He presides over the Islamic Cultural Assembly in Mauritania and West Africa, founded in 1982, which has organised the annual International Conference on the Prophet's Biography since 1989. He also presides over the Forum of African Scholars for Communication.
Public office
He was appointed Minister of Information in 1977, and later served as Minister of Islamic Orientation and as Vice-President of the National Assembly.
Abroad
King Mohammed VI received him after a Hassanian lecture in 2014. He has addressed the Saudi Crown Prince and works with ICESCO and the Muslim World League.
